Proposal

Brett and Victoria got engaged on March 11, 2011, about a week after their 1st year anniversary of dating, March 5, 2011.

Victoria's Take on the Proposal:

It was a Friday.  Earlier that day I went wedding dress shopping with my sister, Briana, cousins Rachel and Jenna, friend Jenn and aunt, Kim.  It was a glorious experience.  Wedding dress shopping is one of my favorite things to do I've decided.  I found the dress of my dreams that day, before Brett and I were actually engaged :)

It was sunny outside the whole day and I was in the best mood from wedding dress shopping.  Brett picked me up from my apartment at 4:30 and we went to go see the Carl Bloch exhibit in the MOA at BYU.  On the way there Brett played love songs in his car and held my hand and was being incredibly gentle and loving.  When we were in the Carl Bloch exhibit, Brett and I shared the sweetest experience.  In front of one of the beautiful masterpieces of Carl Bloch he looked down at me and said, "We are going to grow old together."  It might be one of those you-had-to-be-there moments, but it melted my heart.

After Carl Bloch we went over to another art gallery by the Riverwoods that I had never seen before.  We went inside and looked at the art there, but Brett was walking really fast and being really quiet and I didn't know what was going on.  We went into another room of the art gallery and Brett took me in his arms and said he loved me very much.  Then we turned a corner and there was a painting that looked inspired from an animated film we love so much made by a professor at BYU called "Thought of You."  The girl was dancing in the painting like the film, but the boy was kneeling down on one knee.  "What is the guy doing?  It looks like he's proposing."  I said.  Brett replied, "Well, why don't you look at the name of the painting."

I went over to the painting and the words beside it said, "Marry me, Victoria?"  At first I thought, O what a coincidence, her name is Victoria.  Mine is too.  But....then it all hit me.   I turned to my left and saw Brett kneeling on one knee with a gorgeous ring in his hand.  He took my hands and said, "Victoria, will you marry me?" (I don't remember the exact words he said since I was in an intense episode of excitement and a little bit of shock) Of course I said YES and cried a bit.  It was the most magical moment of my life.

Then Brett called in his fantastic sister, Ashley, who had been sneakily waited outside to come take pictures of us.  We reenacted the proposal and took probably a million pictures kissing and beaming.

Brett had a dear friend, Sarah, an art major at BYU, paint the picture for us.  It will be our first piece of art together and a constant and happy reminder of how we began our eternal journey together.

We went to Tucanos after to celebrate because that's our favorite restaurant.  Yay marriage!!!
